I never thought that I would teach academic writing; moreover, I never expected to lead the Writing Center. The first time when I heard of Writing Center was when our writing instructor Dennis Johnson suggested that I become a tutor in the IELTE Writing Center. As soon as I understood what writing center was, and how it operated, I became inspired with enthusiasm. Since that time writing center became for me more than just a work or an internship. It became labor of love, something that I really liked and enjoyed.
This academic year was the first when the writing center operated starting from September, and we had many students who came to the writing center to have sessions with tutors, or to participate in presentations. We selected the junior staff that will be the next generation of writing center senior staff. I feel very proud of the work that we had been doing throughout this academic year, and especially, I am proud of people who worked in the writing center.
I hope that what we did this year was only the beginning of the successful development of the writing center and that there will be a bright future of our wonderful writing center as a trustworthy and respectable student-governed organization.
